Working on various clients alongside an engagement team where I get to work on and have experiences on various areas of an audit whilst being coached by members of the team. Additionally I have various training courses I attend day to day and also attend college to get ready for any exams coming up.
I have learnt a variety of different and new skills, for example learning how to communicate with clients in the correct way / how to maintain professional scepticism whilst working / maintaining audit quality / developing my teamwork skills and being able to work collaboratively within a team which is vital within my apprenticeship.
I really enjoy my programme. Being able to go into the office and network with various grades of people and employees. But also, working on a variety of different clients is eye opening seeing how various clients operate differently and how audit can vary so much depending on who you are auditing. That makes my apprenticeship exciting as everyday is different.
My programme is very organised and structured, for example, all my college days are planned for the year so I am aware of when I have college, and the same for study leave, they always ensure I have the correct amount of study leave for every exam ensuring I am well prepared for each exam.
I have various amounts of support from my employer, I am always looked after when working on a new audit (especially as I am new and inexperienced) and additionally in the office I am always surrounded by people / other apprentices of various grades that are always willing to help me.
My training provider provides large amounts of support for me. They always ensure and email whenever I have college coming up with all the information I need, I always get an introductory email from my tutor and support surrounding revision when it gets nearer to my exam so I can gain additional help if I need.
I have monthly calls with my performance manager and someone from my training provider where I can discuss my progress in my work and also how I can improve my work and also what I need in order to help me perform better within my apprenticeship. This helps me to keep developing my skills.
There are many extra curricular activities to get involved with, for example, I am part of a social committee where I get to help plan monthly socials which has been really fun and good for networking. Also, I am aware that there are many sport teams and other networking events that you can attend.
Yes
They are a great employer, they always put their employees before anything and ensure everyone is looked after within the firm. There is also a great culture within the workplace and everyone is willing to help and chat to any grade of employee, making me feel confident and comfortable in my work.
Ensure that you research the organisation before going through any interview stage, put lots of effort into each stage of the application process as every stage counts towards getting an interview. And make sure you do all the stages on time and meet the deadlines otherwise you may not be able to continue the process.
