The day to day as an auditor varies a lot every day. My main role as an auditor is to ensure that the audit of the client is being completed by ensure that i am partaking in the test work and ensuring that any errors that are found are reported back ot the client and our management/ partners
I have learnt a plethora of new skills since joining the firm as well as develop a lot of existing skills. One main skill i have learnt is to have more confidence in myself and the work i produce. One skill that has developed a lot is the excel skills i have
I really enjoy my apprenticeship programme. I am able to be exposed to many different companies within my department (Financial Services) and see how each differently use IFRS and FRS102 to produce their accounts. Being able to work on many different clients means that there is a never a day the same and i am able to constantly learn.
The programme is structured very well. The exams are set out in a manor which ensure there is plenty of time to revise while not making it be too long of a process. While, learning there are many opportunities to work on many different clients a long with the exams and professional qualifications.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. There is day to day support from the team you work in and the people directly around you. My performance manager is always on hand if i need something that is no related to the client i am working on. And the People leader is always keen to be able to listen to me if there is something i do not feel comfortable speaking to my performance manager about.
The support received from the training provider is good. The lectures that we initially get are all done by professionals who are easily able to answer any question the class or I have. After the lectures, there is the opportunity for us to ask questions into either a forum page or directly to the lecturer
The qualifications are a key part of the role as they give background to all of the work that you will perform. This has helped me increase my understanding of new areas of accounting and audit. In turn increasing the opportunities that i get to perform new areas of audit test work
There are many extra curricular activities to get involved in at work. There are many different sports teams that you can join. I took part in the student inductions which i helped the new joiners get settled into the firm and introduce them to different parts of the firm so they are ready start
Yes
The opportunities that you get in the current times are amazing, you gain exposure to working on huge clients and experience new things every day. It also helps in the future, as having KPMG on your C V is something to boast to potential future employers for the prestigious name.
The main bit of advice i would give is to be open to every opportunity that comes your way as it can lead to new doors to pass through. A new opportunity within KPMG always lead to more exciting times at work and a better experience as you are able to make the most out of the time you have
