  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • MAKE UK as a training provider is overall a decent provider. However there are areas which could use improvement. The practical learning side of things is very good. The tutors teaching you to use machinery are all ex-industry and know what they are on about. The BTEC side of things isn't the best. There are some BTEC tutors who sometimes seem as if they put in less effort than others. Once the second year of college is finished, you are assigned a tutor to meet you in company and help you work on your apprenticeship criteria. This is one of the things that MAKE UK do very well. My tutor is very helpful and always puts effort in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • It's competitive and very selective especially on schemes outside of Derby. Make sure you know your stuff and have some sort of background in engineering or a way of further demonstrating an interest in engineering.
