  • Daily role is to provide a working service to end user and sort any issues that arise. Assist fellow engineers if time and location allows. Keep your van fully stocked so your not running out of equipment midway through a job.

  • Learnt how to use various tools within the network and what constitutes to a fault or working service. Interacting with various customers and how to solve their queries.

  • Programme has finished now but was interesting at times.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Structured ok. I personally think classroom based learning would be more beneficial but the times we are living in virtual it is.

  • You are left to work things out yourself majority of the time as people you can call maybe stuck on jobs themselves or May try and take you through it over phone if they answer.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • No support received. You are left to get on with it. Maybe different on other patch.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the practical experience helps more than the qualification. It’s the practical that gets you through the job on a daily basis.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There probably are but I’ve not been invited to any. I think this also comes down to your initial buddying period and who your buddy introduces you to.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think everyone needs to try it for themselves and see if it is something they would like to pursue with.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • Ask for help as soon as you get stuck because you could make it a bigger problem if you don’t say anything. Keep phoning your patch lead for guidance. If that’s not possible then your buddy or just phone someone and they could give you guidance or direction.
