I'm an assistant manager in a flagship pub that has meeting rooms and hotel. General day to day includes opening and closing the pub ensuring customers enjoy their visit working to a high standard. Promoting various events to customers. Ensuring food is cooked to a high standard whilst ensuring health and safety is followed.
Yes I have learnt many various skills as well as enhancing skills I already had. The skills have included looking at different members of staff and working out how the best way to teach each member differently with regards to training as we all learn in different ways and styles.
I have enjoyed my apprenticeship although it has been dampened by the pandemic. I feel i have gained various new skills although feel I would of enjoyed the course more had it had been either side of coronavirus. The course has been delivered in a good standard with the restrictions in place.
The programme is structured to a high standard. I think this helps with the tutors knowing what they are talking about and delivering it to a high standard trying to get the best out of you no matter what. I feel it helps that they have all been in the business so know what to expect.
When I need the support from my employer I have received it, from having time to be able to complete my work to having time available to be able to attend my meetings. Sometimes even swapping my shifts round at a late stage. My general manager has even took time to attend a presentation I had to present.
My provider had an issue with tutors during the course due to 1 leaving the business. When I have had my tutors they have all been excellent and to a high standard pushing my to do the work that was set and to try and complete as much as I could. The majority of my meetings have been virtual due to the pandemic but always there to support.
My qualification helps me to perform better because I can understand each team member could learn in different ways so my guidance and coaching has been given to suit each employee. I have also learnt that delegation starts with me and I need to delegate my jobs in order of priority.
At work we don't really have any sports teams we can get involved in although we do have a really close nit team that do have social events from time to time and that then builds team spirit a little. We treat each other like family and stick together no matter what.
Yes
The company has shone in my eyes through the pandemic. When things were up in the air at the start greene king still paid everyone to a high percentage of their wage. During and after lockdown the company have still progressed with things like mental health charities and ensuring help is available if needed.
Try your hardest to get a job with them. The company try to put the staff first although it may not seem that way to some staff I feel like they have excelled in this field. We are also entitled to many different discounts from various employers around the UK.
