Developing and maintaining features for Barclays mobile banking app for iOS devices.
Learnt new. Before joining Barclays I was a blank slate in terms of software development. I went from not knowing the first thing about programming, to being able to actively contribute towards app development at Barclays
I found it very stressful in the beginning due to lack of experience in the area, but I quickly found the fun in programming. Barclays have made the process more enjoyable through the support that they have provided to help me with my personal development.
At Barclays, you have apprentice development tasks to complete over time which progress in difficulty as you progress as an apprentice. On the job, you are supported as you learn the ropes, and are slowly given more and more exposure and responsibility. The university program is very well structured
As much as required. You never feel like there is nobody around to help you if you need it.
Tutors are always available for additional support where needed. I have never felt unsupported throughout my time at university.
There are some skills I have acquired at university that help me in my role, however the course doesn't feature any iOS development which is what my job role involves.
