As a health care assistant I have a very varied job role. My day to day tasks involve giving assistance to residents with personal care, assistance with eating and drinking, also keeping on top of general house keeping making sure a residents room is tidy. I also assist with keeping residents busy with various interests for example talking to them or making sure they have something to keep them busy.
I have got better at organising my time and prioritising my course tasks and working around this. I have also gained a better understanding in various parts of my job for example diabetes and communication skills. I also feel that I have been gain a better understanding of my job, and why I do certain things.
I have enjoyed studying as i feel it helps with my mental state of mind as well as developing new skills and continuing learning. It is very good that I can study along side my job and gain a qualification. It is good that I have been able to share my study experiences with people that I work with.
I feel the the study course is very well structured and well organised. My tutor has been very supported where I needed a break in the studying sue to personal circumstances. Also if I had needed extra time to complete an assignment the flexibility has been a great support to me.
I feel I am very lucky to have a very supportive home manager, and if I have needed to have some time during my shift for a supervision or an exam he has been very understanding and flexible during these times. He is also very interested in how my studying and the course is going.
I feel I have been very lucky to have had good support from my training provider, and we have a working relationship together. There has been a good level of communication between us both which is very positive. This is either though e-mail or telephone calls regularly, and my home manager is also involved aswell.
My trainer provider is very supportive and really encourages me to do well within the course. I have always felt happy with the level of assistance I have had from her, and if I didn’t understand something she would give me more assistance to help me to understand better.
At my work place there are currently no extra activities for staff to take part in but I believe that this is being looked at and that they are trying to encourage staff to come up with ideas of things to do as a team outside of the workplace, which would be lovely.
Yes
I have worked at bupa for 3 years and I am happy to work there, everyday is different and management try and sort out problems before they get worst.
Everyday is different and sometimes you have good days and sometime you have not so good days but this all comes down experience and how you can deal with things differently, also always talk to someone if you have something on your mind or your not dealing well with a situation. No question is a stupid question.
