On a day to day basis I will work on issues brought to me by fellow employees, there is a wide range of issues I deal with across many systems, we monitor the applications that the company uses to do its day to day work and any errors that come up will be dealt with by us.
I have expanded my knowledge of plenty of new systems/applications that I previously would never have touched. I have definitely improved my problem solving skills and communications skills as I need to work with the rest of my team to investigate and solve these issues that are brought to us.
I really enjoy the programme, the work/apprenticeship time balanced is great, if I require more time I can request it, I get the time to work on my coursework and still get the hands on experience that I wouldn't have got it if I had gone to university
It is very well organised, I have 1 practical/programming session a month and 1 to 1's every 3 months between these classes I have work to do. I have been giving opportunities for reviews of the coursework I am working on and I can get feedback when needed.
My employer is excellent, they allow me the time off work to attend the apprenticeship meeting and provide me with plenty of time to deal with the coursework needed. My line manager has offered to review my coursework and is willing to attend meetings with the apprenticeship organiser for updates on how it is going
My training provider provides me with practical sessions each one focusing on a specific part of the knowledge base that is needed to pass the apprenticeship. The provider also provides 1 to 1 meetings with myself and line manager this allows us to discuss how the apprenticeship is going and what the next steps are
The knowledge that I gain studying for my qualification is very useful, I have learnt about different concepts which are used throughout the company and I have learnt enough skills to be able to plan to progress my career, it has provided a springboard to help progress which might have taken longer had it not been for the apprenticeship
CityFibre provides lots of extra curricular activites, alot of them I find are very charity focused but I have taken part in some sign language lessons, I know there is options for some health related stuff like yoga. There was a company wide call last year where there was a performance of a magician.
Yes
I enjoy the role I work and I find the company culture is very positive they are very much focused on backing eachother and that makes it a very easy company to work for. I have not had any issues with being treated poorly and I find they are generous with holidays and career progression.
Do your research, if you can find out what cityfibre is out and what there plans are it will help you applying also have a look at the different opportunities CityFibre offers, there is plenty of job roles for different responsibilities around the country so you might find something which you didnt expect.
