I start my day by looking through emails to make sure nothing was missed the previous day I then do a safety walk to find any potential hazards and then record them on the system for them then to be eliminated/reduced I then start any risk assessments or policies that may need doing or a work instruction i then go to SIM 3 in which we talk about our KPIs and talk through each sector and any problems we may have after this is done I go back to my office and continue with any other work that needs finishing before going to different committees such as the health and safety, Environmental and the ergonomic in which I lead
I have learned many new skills and learned to develop many skills I already have such as identifying hazards, the new skills I have learned are mostly software-based and are used in the plant for recording things such as accidents or recording waste which is a big part of my role
i enjoy my role thoroughly as its always something different everyday so it poses a new challenge each time i go to work and in general the course which i am on also allows for me to implement my learning into the workplace due to the space of time between each lesson
My programme is sufficiently structured but i believe there could be a plan in place for me to go through and know exactly what I am aiming for and more importantly what my next steps may be after i have completed my course as this would be a motivating factor for myself to know what my next progreesion may be
I received a lot of support from my fellow health and safety manager as he's constantly testing me and teaching me new things i didn't know before or something we have yet to cover on my course, so i couldnt be happy with my health and safety manager as he is a huge support to me but will be sad to see him go when he leaves however other than that i recieve little support from other areas of the business and i beleive it would benefit my role more if i was to understand what thye do and if they could assist me with certain things
My training provider are great i can book a 1 to 1 with them whenever i need help and they will explain it to me till i understand dit and there support in the lectures are great they are always testing our knowledge to see if we understand what they have been teaching
I believe it gives me a general overview however this is needed as I want my diploma next I you needed to have a general nebosh before you can enrol on a diploma course but having the basic knowledge of a variety of topics has helped me progress and help other people in the workplace.
No there aren't any that I know of and would be great if there were as i would be down to get involved as I like to stay active and have a healthy lifestyle, the only thing that could be considered is that i have been on a management course where we carried out different activities testing our leadership skills for a week
Yes
I thoroughly enjoy being here and I cant wait to see the endless opportunities in which Schneider offer as i would like to move abroad with my role in the future and Schneider give me the potential for that to happen so i would recommend anyone with an ambitious though for their future should consider a job at Schneider
I would say just be confident and make sure you know what you are talking about and if you don't just say an apprenticeship is there for you to learn so if you don't know something then i can guarantee you will learn it. I would also say that if you don't like pressure situations and cant deal with a busy schedule then this isn't for you
