  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role will change massivley depending on what placement i am in at work. In my current placement i am in a software placement where every morning i log on, check emails and tasks list then have a call with my team to see what the plan is for the day and what needs doing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to deal with time management and how important it really is to stay on top of. I created a excel document with all the tasks i have to do and in the document put due date, priority and a description. This has really benefited me and see a lot of positives from doing it.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My apprenticeship as a whole has been really up and down as i feel like nohting has really gone to plan so far but nether the less i have actually enjoy the programme so far and think i have learnt a lot espically like how things work in the workplace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship as a whole hasn't been organised that well, this is due to starting college later than we were supposed to first and second year. For our second year at college it felt pointless to be at college from september to until we cam back from christmas in the new year as we didnt recieve our projects from work like we were told would happen.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel like i am quite supported from my employer and we are actually encourgaed to do more, this has been one of the better parts of the apprenticeship as we are told not to just do the bare minimum and to do as much as we can to maximise our experience.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are supported quite a lot from our training provider but the problem is having all the right units to complete as this was a problem we faced in our second year where we found out that some of the units we did in the first year were wrong so we had to complete extra units in second year/ .

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my qualification has helped me with meeting deadlines when you have different tasks and they are all due at different times. This is a very useful as this is a skill that will always be needed in the workplace as there will be times where you have to organsie and prioritise work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are loads of events and sports you can get invloved with on site, there is a charity committee to also get invloved with where you can organise events yourself. I am personally invloved in the football team, the charity committee and the tempest early careers network. which i really enjoy.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think overall it has a lot more benefits than negatives and is also enjoyable when things are sorted out properly. It also gives you a lot of oppitunities to go out and do things you wouldnt normally do like by getting invloved in different sports or by going travelling wiht work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
  • I would say to apply as early as you can to maximise your oppitunities here as the quicker you join the quicker you can network and get to know people. You are also given a number of different oppitunites which i wouldnt normally be able to do if i didnt work here.
