To complete the required training to achieve the desired qualifications. This is completed both in the workplace as well as in person at university. Once the workshop training is complete, several placements, lasting various months will be completed to gain invaluable industry experience. During these apprentices are allowed to be involved in a range of tasks to aid the company.
I have learnt a myriad of new skills since starting the course. I have gain a lot of experience on machines I have never had chance to work on and made pieces I never thought I would be able to. I have also continually improved on my maths, English and IT by using new software and equations.
I am truly enjoying my course. I have learnt so many new skills and gained invaluable experience I would not have to be able to gain on a full time university course, for example office etiquette and machining. I am able to explore different areas of the business and will have a better insight into what I would like to specialise in after my apprenticeship.
The programme has ran for many years and is very well established. I am provided with the necessary equipment in order to complete my role, such as the correct PPE and a laptop. I have found that communication can be later than desired with sometimes little notice to complete desired tasks.
I feel very well supported by my employer. For either in work or personal issues I feel like I am easily able to contact to necessary individual to assist. If an issue was raised I would feel like all the necessary precautions would be completed in order to resolve the issue.
I do feel supported by my education provider despite the fact I have reduced in person contact with them. I would still be able to contact the necessary individual to aid a situation remotely and have an adequately timed reply. I am able to access most of the necessary documentation required for my learning.
The learning in order to obtain my qualification aid my performance in my role due to the skills it provides me with. The mathematics required for the qualification reinforce the calculations needed in the workplace. My IT skills have also improved which aids my performance at work, it enables me to be more efficient and work is improved.
There are a variety of extra social activities in the company that people can be involved with. I am yet to be involved with any of these extra-curricular as I am still settling in due to not being in the company for a significant amount of time. I look forward to being involved with these in the future.
Yes
It is a very renowned company that has a very high standard of work. The training they provide is sufficient and relevant to the industry. I have gained a lot from the apprenticeship and feel like the experience I have obtained is more than a full time course for the industry I would like to work in in the future.
Just be yourself! If you have tried your hardest to obtain the skills you have you should be proud to display this. Also be willing to improve and to learn. There is always time to work on something and learn from those around you who may have more experience than yourself.
