  • I oversee warehouse operations in my designated area including managing staff performance, smooth running of operation and enforcing health and safety compliance. My tasks include delegating jobs to the team, entering hours, monitoring performance and reacting to situations as they arise. Start of shift includes briefing my team on all relevant information then attending a tier 2 meeting where we discuss the plan for the day with my manager.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship structure is excellent, it is delivered in manageable segments which mean you're not overwhelmed at any time and are able to keep on top of your assignments whilst working full time. The support from my tutor has also been excellent and he is able to guide me whenever needed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am given support from my employer in terms of allowing time off the job to complete assignments. I still find this difficult as it usually means having to catch up later or never really being able to fully focus on assignments due to being worried about what is happening on the floor. We also have shared chat groups we can use to reach out and I also speak to my other colleagues for support who are on the same course,

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As much support as I need is provided, they're are only every at the end of a phone call and will guide me through any questions or concerns I have. The feedback on assignments is also great, this makes it less confusing when trying to add work needed to sign off modules.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like this qualification will definitely help me perform better in my role due to the amount of subjects I'm learning, a lot of these are new to me so my knowledge is continuing to increase. I'm already applying my newly learnt skills to my job, one example of this would be the time management techniques we learnt.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is always something going on in terms of extra-curricular activities although in the last couple of years I believe Covid has limited these opportunities. There are fitness at work competitions where you join a team and try and get the most steps of KMs in to win prizes etc. We also have POD events which is usually team pizza and there was a boat race recently.
