within my role i take on daily admin tasks to support my team with their projects. I also am currently training another team on how to use a new system that has been introduced to the group. i assist on projects, mainly reviewing documents and giving my ideas and opinions on next steps.
yes, i am now able to use project management systems, guide colleagues and produce project packs for senior stakeholders. i am able to present to stake holders and take lead on our governance processes to ensure we are following all regulations when carrying out our projects. i play a key part within my team to get our projects from ideas to outputs.
I enjoy my day to day role, I get great job satisfaction however, the apprenticeship programme has been difficult. they are very flexible and nice to work with however there has been conflicting information given when attending webinars, and not being able to contact our coach via phone is difficult. i struggle to retain information when i am to read it and do better in a lecture environment so i do wish there were more opportunities like that to help embed the information i am being given.
from the outside it looks very well organised, however we receive emails for webinars where the dates and times are wrong and they cant stop them. we are told to complete online learning prior to attending webinars where we are being taught the subject and the team dont seem to have answers to questions specific to the programme.
My employer is very supportive of my learning. If i am struggling i know i can ask any member of my team for support or explanations. they help to embed my knowledge by going over what i have learnt as well as providing separate coaching sessions with everyone in the team so i can learn each colleagues working style and to be included at the core of the projects
I would say the support is minimal. we have our check in calls every 6 weeks, however if we have questions and email it is a slow turn around for a response. I do not blame anyone for this as i believe they have many apprentices to support however it is frustrating when the way the programme is taught is not your learning style and you struggle to retain/understand the information given to you
Once i understand the information i can implement it in my role. it helps me to understand discussions and effectively contribute to conversations and offer solutions if so required. I have built up confidence with my knowledge to also push back on others opinions and ask 'why' when appropriate. this is encouraged widely in my team to ensure we are all working to the best of our abilities
Yes, my team do a weekly book club, we also have a monthly catch up call where we socialise and talk all things home and social life. As we are a remote team located all across the UK we meet up in person every 2 months to allow us to work through our projects and learn together. we also take the opportunity to go for dinner together and just enjoy eachothers company.
No
If Speaking about the provider i would say no as i do not feel fully supported within the apprenticeship. I and other apprentices rely on each other to get the support we need. we have a group chat and feel we need to meet up every couple of weeks to go over our work and ensure we are all meeting the criteria needed to pass.
you must mentally prepare. it is extremely hard going and you will need more than 20% of your working week to complete everything. Encourage your coach to be as contactable as possible. create a group of people also on the same course as you to be the support you may need. having our group has been invaluable.
