My role day to day is to diagnose and repair our buses to a high standard, also to perform safety inspection on the buses.
Yes, when I first joined Stagecoach as a mechanic I didn’t even know the difference between and gearbox and a engine. Now I’m comfortable doing any job given to me.
I have fully enjoyed my programme, I’ve learnt a lot of new things and met alot of nice people along the way. It’s good to see Stagecoach from the engineering side not just operations side.
From a Stagecoach side it is structured very well, it’s set out from day 1 what they expect of you. From a college side there was some teething issues but they got fixed.
A lot of support, They always push you and encourage you to do your best, This is from junior management level all the way to the director that we see and do our reviews with.
We have received support, there is support in the college but also we have a development coach that is just a phone call away.
The training provider has helped with things that we wouldn’t do in the workshop, for example completely stripping gearboxes down etc, it’s good to see the inners of components
Yes, I personally play for the garage football team, have been part of 3 tournaments for cancer research and multiple 11 aside matches.
