The main section of the programme involved one week virtual work experience working with other students in work shops, and constructed tasks such as working together to plan an event for a client who had a budget, while trying to negotiate the best best price for the entertainment. We have also been given tuition to help our studies and many other opportunities.
The main skill I was able to improve upon during my time so far has been my team working skills, as particularly in the Access development week it proved hard at times to effectively communicate as a team to complete a task and delegate roles evenly. I also improved my presentation skills and my ability to present my ideas concisely.
I have really enjoyed my work experience as it enable me to learn new skills and meet new people across the country. I have also really enjoyed being able to focus more on my most challenging A level through the Access tutoring. Finally I have enjoyed being given extra opportunities like Access experience.
The work experience Is very organised, on the website there is a breakdown of all of the various sections of the programme throughout the two years. Also the event are very well ran especially as the support staff respond quickly on email if you have any extra questions during the event.
I really felt like the inclusive culture shown through all aspects of the programme. The staff were also really understanding and support and were happy to help me and my group on the the work experience week if any of us got stuck. I would really happy to work there in the future.
Before taking this work experience I had not fully decided where I wanted my future to go. Now I really am hoping to be a solicitor, this placement helped me understand the roles that many commercial lawyers and more specifically solicitor's face and the challenges which they have to tackle on a daily basis.
Yes, the company fully reimburses you for any any travel you need to make to or from the office for the events they hold in person. Although the work experience itself does not pay you a salary we did receive a bundle of goodies at the start of our programme.
Yes there were multiple opportunities to not only to learn about different networking and communication skills but also many chance to apply what we had learnt to network with other opportunities. Also we regular networked with various staff in the career carousel during the main week of work experience.
Yes
As it will provide you with a plethora of opportunities for networking, skill development and so much more which will help you understand more about the world of even you don't want to progress into becoming a lawyer in the future. I also think the chance to meet new people from across the country is a great experience.
I think the main advice I have is be yourself, you don't need to have your goals or future figured out you just need to be passionate and ready to learn and develop through the help offered by the programme. I would also recommend practicing the Watson Glasser practice tests.
