As a technician my role consisted of the general maintance of equipment, preprooms, labs and chemicals for the science department. Coupled with this I was also responsible for helping the science department order equipment, chemicals and set up practical experiments on a weekly basis.
I have learnt how to be organised and proqctive in my work. I have also been able to learn valuable skills and knowledge needed while in the job role. From the apprenticeship I have been able to learn about important legislations with developing great practical skills
I really enjoyed the programme as I was able to get the support and training needed. I had weekly visits from my tutor who was very friendly and approachable. The tasks developed my knowledge knowledge gave me the skill required to successfully work as a technician.
The apprenticeship was well organised with work regularly uploaded online. The feedback was regular with improvements which were needed to achieve a good understanding. From the programme I was able to build a detailed portfolio with all evidence of my work. The work was easy to follow.
I received excellent support which made me feel highly valued and important. I was sent on courses, had weekly meeting and was shown how to use equipment and carryout different techniques.
I received good support from my trainer with access to all learning materials online. I got had regular visits and was assigned a tutor who was able to give me all the support to guide me through the apprenticeship
It has provided me with a solid foundation and good background to handle a range of situations within the work place. I have a good level of background knowledge to deal with running a prep room and using chemicals.
I got involved in a dissection club.
