On a day-to-day basis I work on a wide range of projects from transport for major events to stakeholder engagement or research projects to helping on the transport planning practice site as site champion. It is a mixture of both qualitative and quantitative work which gives it a good balance.
I have particularly enjoyed improving my excel skills and learning how to use a wide range of new formulas to solve complex problems and present outputs for clients. I have also strengthened both my skills for working as part of a team and also independently which has been invaluable to me.
I absolutely love my programme. I wake up everyday with a smile on my face always excited to come into the office and see my team and what exciting work I will get to do that day. have had countless opportunities come my way through my enthusiasm and energy and I can't wait for what comes next.
My programme is really well structured and in just a few months I have had such a wide range of experiences. I particularly enjoy meeting new people and working in new areas that I didn't even know existed! I learn something new every day and am always excited for the next challenge.
I receive invaluable support from my line manager and my wider team. They really make the office atmosphere so lovely and I love coming to see them all at work every day. I appreciate that my line manager takes time every Monday morning to do a weekly check in with me.
I love coming to college in Leeds. All the course tutors are really friendly and are always looking for ways to support our learning. The course is so interesting and they really help to challenge me and look outside the box when completing assignments. I am really excited for the European Fieldtrip in September with college.
My qualification really helps me perform better in my role. I really enjoy learning the reasons behind why we do what we do at work, particularly diving into the behind the scenes policies! I love presenting to my colleagues when I come back from each block about what I have learnt.
I have taken part in a number of professional networking events. I enjoy meeting new people and having a nice evening out with my team. I also really enjoy running quizzes in my team meetings, combining together my passions for transport and music! As covid restrictions ease, I look forward to taking part in more events.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Mott MacDonald so far and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I would also look to champion apprenticeships and promote Mott MacDonald's apprenticeship schemes to my friends. It has been completely life changing for me and I know how much my friends would enjoy something like this too.
Number 1, be super passionate about what you do and always have a smile on your face. You have to enjoy your job and have a passion for it. I love sharing my passion for transport planning and getting stuck into problems that sometimes don't always have an answer. And number 2, never give up!
