I work in the Microbiology Department I I'm currently new to my role, but technical officer supports the surrounding teams in Micro by helping implement new equipment and methods. the team also test new drugs for Pharm dev + PT and D. you manage Projects and have the responsibility and communication updates to stakeholders
Yes I have learnt lots of new skills at work I have just currently just been through the lean academy at work , which has helped me gain a better understanding of LEAN and the importance of it in the workplace. It has developed my confidence to speak up and challenge.
I have loved every minute working for AstraZeneca , From Day one I have felt a part of the team and enjoy the work culture. I have a very friendly team and enjoy the nature of the work in the labs. I honestly didn't really know what to expect, But I do enjoy it.
The apprenticeship programme is great but I don't feel like it doesn't works the same in Quality as it does the rest of site from when I've spoken to other apprentices. there are mentors and you are seen as part of the team rather than as an apprentice sometimes making study time can be hard to get.
I have never had a mentor whilst being on the Apprenticeship programme, I have had 5 five mangers and my current manger is very supportive and makes sure I get my study time and supports me when I'm struggling to manage my work load and uni load. I have had a access to extra support through the uni provider.
I have had access to extra support and help but i took me 3/4 years to get this support. I general believe that more could be done by the training provider to make the support they offer more visible. I haven't had much help form the tutors and feel like you don't get support from them- this doesn't really help with the fact that its distant learning. I just feel more could be done to create a better support system, that's known by everyone.
I don't feel like the Qualification I have gotten from the training provider has helped me perform better in my job and even given me more experience in my role. the course has such a wide range of modules but only one of them was even slightly relevant to my job.
There is a Gym on site which you can join, football pitches that you can hire. there are Lunch and learn sessions available to attend. there is an AZ choir. Pre covid there use to be Quiz nights. there are coffee clubs for networking purposes. I am a keen swimmer so when I am not working I am swimming.
Yes
Its a great company to work for there are lots of benefits and advantages available. from my experience the people that work here are very friendly and look out for you. with it being such a a big company there are lots of opportunities available to develop. they do i long term incentive scheme.
Not sure my advice would be relevant no as I am sure the application process ahs changed since I did it 7 years ago. But I would say to try and relax everyone finds it scary and intimidating , the have confidence and courage to speak up and ask questions, no question is a stupid question. To be engaged as much as possible.
