  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role includes writing SQL queries based on stakeholder needs, investigating issues to do with Titan and Datastore through the support mailbox, and helping with testing various different web applications. i also have become adept at using Tableau, which is a web based data visualisation tool which is helpful to present my investigative findings.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt various different applications, such as SQL and Tableau. These different applications are helpful to me in my role as states previously. I have also learnt various teamwork, time management, efficiency and productivity skills which have helped me in this apprenticeship and its something i will continue to develop on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. I have been able to collaborate with my peers, add various new skills to my skillset, and progress my learning to be able to set me up for a good career inside of Natwest. it has been fun learning these skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised. i am able to accurately search out for help when i need it and i know exactly where to go if i need any additional support. my tasks are explained to me clearly and concisely and i know exactly what i need to do before i take part in completing an activity.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a healthy amount of support from my employer. my manager is always on hand to be able to answer my queries and questions when i am in need of his help, and he also gives me an adequate amount of independency to be able to learn on my own.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a healthy amount of support from my tutor. he helps me with any issues i have in the apprenticeship modules and he thoroughly explains what needs to be done and how to present it. He has a open attitude towards supporting me, and he helps me out effectively.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What i learn in my apprenticeship definitely helps in my day to day role. I have learnt different SQL querying techniques in my apprenticeship learning, and that's helped me to progress well in my role in NatWest. It also helps me in a teamwork and collaborative sense, and i have been able to build upon these skills NatWest.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many company events happening in spite of Covid, but now that we are moving out of lockdown, i am able to take in part in various different events that NatWest have presented to me. There are also many opportunities to get involved in charity and volunteering work too.

  • Yes

  • NatWest is a diverse, collaborative company with many opportunities to succeed and progress. It is a organisation based on upon teamwork, efficiency and progression, and they give you all the tools you need to be able to further you academic and career goals, and be able to add tons of skills to your skillset.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Take your time. theres a lot of different applications, servers, tools and practices that you need to learn and get used to. This wont happen immediately, so take time time out to learn and dont rush yourself into trying to learning everything you need to all at once. Learn at your own pace.
