I undertake subcontractor application assessment and forecasts, this is done for eight subcontractors across my project. I also undertake compensation event recovery and assessments to the client on our project. I undertake when necessary procurement for relevant subcontractor work packages. I also assist in relevant admin jobs on the project.
The ability to think independently and undertake assessments and tasks utilising outside of the box thinking. Also team work, through the apprenticeship scheme ive undertaken multiple tasks which required clear communication and leadership in order to succeeded, this is a skill which I have been able to transfer into daily life and work
To a large extent , as currently the skills im learning in university are being transferred into daily work and its benefiting me massively , its also good to be 3/5 of the way through, as its been extremely hard work to date and I know i have to keep going to succeed
I feel the catch up calls with central team dont happen as much as i would like. However when events and calls are arranged there very informative and help me out, likewise i can always contact someone if required, im giving constant training to improve skills which helps all round
From the wider business lots as its very well published , likewise my internal team and project are very supportive and offer lots of mental first aid talks and training. There is lots of information on support offered and its useful to consult in times of stress and anxiety, so good all round
Again constant training is provided inline with my current level, this means im not being bombarded with training which is too easy or too difficult, likewise its all relevant to my career aspirations. The university grades are reviewed at the end of every year, and to date ive not had any problems with them.
I have learnt from university and Balfour Beatty training and been able to see betterment in my work, this is mainly from the courses being related to my job. However other construction courses are provided to help broaden my knowledge which in turn betters my actual understanding of the industry itself.
From Balfours, there is constant networking, social and sports related events both from the wider business and project level. I personally have been involved in five a side football and one volunteering day. The apprenticeship scheme also enabled me to undertake talks at local schools and colleges which was great in spreading the benefits of apprenticeships.
Yes
Its a large company which has vast amounts of career paths to go into. As its such a large business the opportunities to work with different people, all with different skills sets and on different projects is very common, this helps massively in learning and development. Furthermore it has a unbelievable support network
The vacancy page on balfours website , linkdin and the government website are key in viewing the current places available. After finding a role you want , I'd suggest be open and honest with your aspirations and experience, as its best to understand from day one your strengths and weakness (which through training can be improved on)
