I am a Service Integration & Management Consultant and so I work within transition teams to introduce new services into a client or to transition services from an incumbent to Capgemini. I am responsible for ensuring the processes and functions are transitioned to enable to Capgemini to administer the services agreed on contractually. I review and create process documents using ITIL processes and service models. I also ensure that the ticketing system (i.e. ServiceNow) is fully operational and meets our requirements.
I have been able to learn and develop my skills significantly within my role. I have been able to deliver and attend large workshops to present my ideas and work with Capgemini teams and the client to deliver an agreed service. I have undertaken different training courses to improve my skills and knowledge within this area.
I really enjoy my programme as I am able to use my learnings from the programme to implement into my work and vice versa. Being able to practice what I learn in the real world provides me great value. The programme is interesting and challenges my thinking which has enabled me to grow.
There is clear structure within my programme and this has been consistent from the beginning of my programme. I am aware of when I am due to have lectures, be onsite at the university and when my deadlines are. These dates rarely change and so it enables me to plan my time well.
My employer provides me with 20% Off-the-job training, therefore allowing me to attend lectures during the working hours and taking time during the day where needed to complete my learning/attend university days/study leave and exam leave. My employer and colleagues also offer great support and advice based on their experience so can help me to firm my understandings.
My training provider offers me support by online live lectures, additional reading, appointments for queries and are available via email at any time. Whilst this applies to my actual knowledge, the training provider (university) also offers me support personally and for career growth and progression by coaching calls and study aid.
My qualification allows me to practice what i learn in my role and has significantly aided my confidence within my role as I can apply this directly. I also have greater understanding of what others do within their role and so understand their requirements from me and mine from them - this allows me to see the bigger picture of how things link together.
My company offer a wide range of additional activities - i have participated in several volunteering opportunities where I have visited different schools/spoken to different people about my experience. I also took part in the Palace2Palace charity bike ride with members in my company. There are also a range of networking events and community days which I have attended to understand more about my company and network.
