My job is to support the Project Manager ensuring our deliverables are achieved in a timely manner. To achieve this I carry out tasks relating to Financial Management, Governance and Resource Management.
I have learned a lot of new skills including building and maintaining databases while running quires using SQL. I have learned how to build a computer network and use packet tracker software to simulate this. I have also built on exiting excel skills and learned how to perform more advanced tasks using the software.
The company culture is incredible with a major emphasis being placed on personal development and networking. This exceeded my expectations and everyone I have come across has been extremely friendly and willing to help. I am thoroughly enjoying the programme and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves learning new skills.
The induction is well organized with a timetable being provided for your first week. Beyond this the structure was a little lacking in my experience. I was moved departments three times before being placed in my current team. But once settled it has been very well organized with great support from colleagues throughout.
The support I have received from my line manager has been outstanding every step of the way. Not only this but all colleagues who I have come across in my time here are all very friendly, willing to help where they can. There are also several employee benefits prompted regularly around employee wellbeing. I have not used any of these however it is nice to know the support is there should it be required.
My assessor has been an invaluable asset throughout my apprenticeship. Continuously making herself available should I have any questions all the while being extremely friendly and supportive, reassuring me along the way. She has helped me through various technical difficulties and even pre-empted some saving me valuable time. I cannot stress how thankful I am for all her help!
I have learned various new technical skills thus far in my apprenticeship, some have been implemented immediately within my day job while others which I don't carry out myself day to day have served to assist my understanding of what my colleagues do and have promoted better conversations in turn. There has been a lot of learned theory which has helped me better understand my job and the role I play within my team.
There is a plethora of extra activates that can be picked up outside day to day work. The organization provides paid volunteering days which you can utilize to support the local community. There are several employee led networks which help shape the culture of the organization which you can volunteer time to. The organization also has numerous partners to provide additional learning pathways if you want to learn even more skills outside of your apprenticeship.
Yes
The main reason I would recommend NatWest is due to the emphasis on personal development within the organization which is driven by the leadership team. This coupled with the fact you are provided with plenty of opportunities and resources to assist your development make it a truly exceptional place to work and grow your skills.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, a penchant for learning is not a negative trait!
