An apprentice that is following a placement plan gaining knowledge in all disciplines that Network Rail have. Completing 20xwblo reports and 9xnvqs to back up what knowledge I ahve gained from these placements. Working a range of day and night shifts in the office, out with the gangs and also in all weather.
Yes I have learnt a range of new skills from practical training and mentorships (on the job training), I have also developed my leadership skills in the ILM programme.
I enjoy the programme greatly and strive with the support of my peers and the company I strive to complete the scheme and become a full time employee as soon as I can.
Very valued as alot of effort and funding has gone into helping me to succeed and become a Network Rail employee.
The programme is very organised as the training modules are set and the placements are then fitted around this to give you some knowledge before being trained on it.
Support is always available at the end of a phone or by email and they are always happy to help.
The employer supports me alot as they give me the foundations to learn from and provide training to improve my knowledge.
The salary is comfortable to live with in the first year as most expenses are covered. The salary in the second and third year is okay for what we do as enhancements are available for certain shifts such as nights. In my opinion I would like to see the overtime limit extended from 30 hours a month.
There is not a large amount of oppurtunities outside of work so this gives me a greater appreciation of the oppurtunity I have.
Yes
It is a great company to work for and provides a large amount of oppurtunities for progression.
First of all to make sure they do it and to embrace any oppurtunities that arise as they will help you grow into something valued like myself
