I am an Architectural Apprentice in my third year of studies at London South Bank University, graduating in summer 2023 with a RIBA Part 1 degree. I work for the Building and Project Consultancy team, as part of KKS Savills located at Great Peter Street. I have worked on a number of exciting projects during my time at Savills, from large scale corporate towers to smaller residential proposals. I aid the design team by producing 3D design models, realistic visuals and technical drawing packs, ready for the construction process. Working on RIBA Stages 2-5.
I have learnt a huge range of new skills during my time at Savills. - Software knowledge and skills in Revit, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite. - Technical knowledge and exposure, on site visits. - Confidence gained from client meetings and interactions. - Networking and social skills improved massively.
I extremely enjoy my apprenticeship programme, sponsored by Savills. I have a huge support network, with amazing opportunities. Being a Savills Apprentice has has given a well-rounded understanding of the industry and ‘the working life’ with support from some of the best in the business.
The structure of my apprenticeship programme at Savills is exceptional. I am supported at every stage of my course and training. I have weekly meetings with my mentors to discuss my university work, and company project work. Savills have a number of Learning and Development staff who provide great support. Bia- annual Apprentice Days are organised by Savills for all apprentices to network and learn selected topics in relation to the APC process.
The support system within Savills is extremely well organised. I understand who my mangers and mentors are. They all actively reach out to me to discuss my university work and company project work. They help me set weekly tasks and targets. They make sure I have all the support needed. I am provided with study leave during my university deadline months.
My training providers help me step by step and push me to achieve the best. I am guided throughout the whole process of RIBA Part 1 Architecture. I love attending university, with like minded and enthusiastic peers. Our tutors provide 1 to 1 tutorials to discuss our coursework, they help us improve and develop.
The skills and knowledge learnt during my apprenticeship aid me when completing company tasks. My development at Savills is also very beneficial to my coursework, I am able to apply different ways of thinking, which develops my design philosophy.
Savills provide a number of interesting and beneficial events: - A huge range of networking events to meet peers. - Savills have cricket, golf, rugby, cycling, running and football teams -CPD's are arranged by Savills for staff to learn and develop their skills. - We have monthly drinks internally within Savills to network and meet new people who can support one another.

I am proud to be part of Savills, they are an amazing company to work for. I would recommend all students looking to start an apprenticeships, to get to know Savills and the company service lines.
