My role as a BA can vary, I work to onboard business's onto our dynamic system. As well as work releases to test the code to make sure the functionality is working and nothing has broken once in place. I work with alot of computer systems to create spreadsheets, process maps, JIRA stories and more. I am almost 2 years into the role and still am learning new things all the time as there isnt a standard day to day job expectance due to how vast the work can be and how much it can change.
I have learned and still continue to learn new skills and develop them. I have continued to improve in communication, resilience, team building, knowledge sharing. Its been an amazing time.
The apprenticeship can be stressful at times but the support I have been given by my team at NatWest and also QA has been incredible. I have had so much put in place to help support me with my dyslexia to help me be able to do my job role and the apprenticeship work to the best of my ability. Overall I have loved the experience and would recommend it to anyone.
From a provider experience it can be not as well organised as you would like but this was due to the course being newish, they are always trying to improve and asking for feedback and changes have already been put in place as I have seen and experienced. From a work experience its been all on me to organise my time, my manager encourages me to make sure I make time for my apprenticeship and through this I ended up blocking out a Friday afternoon to complete this.
I received over and above the support I expected. I have had so much help with my team with any questions, the company its self put software in place for me to support with my dyslexia and also occupational health sessions to help me gain skills and tips on how to help me manage my days and my dyslexia better to improve not just my work life but home life too.
I received a lot of support, when I asked I got help. I was given alternative ways to do units as well as time to go over questions 1-2-1 with someone to make sure I was understanding the question and what it entailed.
The apprenticeship I did was for Data Analytics but I am doing a Business Analyst job, it doesn't really help me perform better as it doesn't match up. However I have been encouraged to share what I have learned with my team and also see if I can use these skills and knowledge I got from the apprenticeship to improve the way we work in my team.
Yes, we have a domain social club which I am apart of. We also have been trying to get involved with charity events but due to covid in the past it wasn't possible but I am aware that soon we should be able to get that sorted.
Yes
I have worked in several places before NatWest, and I still can't get my head arround just how employee oriented they are not just customer. They care about their employees, their mental health, health in general and also learning or any other difficulties you may have. I have not had anyone at all in the past help me with dyslexia or anything else in the past and care that I am not too stressed. It is an amazing place to work and I couldn't be happier that I found this apprenticeship to give me this opportunity to be able to work here.
Just be yourself, that's all you need to be is you. Everyone is an individual and will bring different things to the table. And that's what makes you stand out.
