My role involves supporting the completion of projects. I have the opportunity to work alongside the members of my team as well as other teams within the company. Day to day I attend client meetings, assist in presenting to clients, hep produce important documents, spreadsheets and presentations for clients.
I have grown in confidence which has helped my presentation skills and general ability to converse with clients / team members. I have recieved a variety of training which has enabled me to become more widely involved in projects. For example I am able to create Solar PV simulations.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this programme, Arcadis is a very people first company which was obvious to me from day 1. I was very nervous about making the transition from secondary school to the work place however I have felt very supported. The work is interesting and engaging.
I would say Arcadis were well structured however the university side of things wasn't quite as organised. There was little communication between Arcadis and UWE which lead to lack of information. Despite this there were no troubles starting my course and there have been none since.
I feel Arcadis have gone above and beyond with their support, it has made the transition from secondary school to work place very easy. My line manager and wider team are very approachable and from day 1 I was made to feel at ease.
My university has been very supportive, my main lecturer and head of the programme has regular catch ups with me which involve checking my progress and if there are any problems I am facing at UWE or Arcadis.
The university course is very aligned with my job role. I also have the ability during year 4 of my degree to choose from a list what I would like to study for the next 2 years, this is very helpful in allowing me to focus my studies on my interests.
The amount of extra curricular activities surprised me when I first joined. There are many social and charity events that you can get involved in as well as a monthly 'celebration fridge' after work. This involves gathering in the kitchen to socialise with food and drink.
Yes
The support is unsurpassed and the people are friendly and approachable. The course is enjoyable and well suited to the job role and the job itself is varied and engaging.
Arcadis do take personality into consideration quite a bit when assessing candidates, be sure to be the best version of you when applying.
