  • Assistant Cost Consultant - carrying out valuations, cost reports, cost plans. Working on various projects simultaneously.

  • Everything I know about Cost Consultancy I have learnt through my job, I have developed my communication and presentation skills during my apprenticeship

  • I enjoy my programme, the team i work with is great, we have internal training to develop my skills, there is a great network of support all around

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured, we receive training schedules at the beginning of the academic year, we have catch ups between the uni and my employer

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am very well supported by my employer, I know I can speak to my manager, peers or anyone about any issues I am having and it will be taken seriously

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support we are given a study day before every exam to give us more time to prepare for exams. My manager and peers are willing to help if I have any questions about university

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe it has given me a lot of knowledge on other roles within the construction industry which I wouldn't have learnt while working, learning the technicalities of contracts and construction teams has proven very useful

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a netball team that you can join, we have quarterly team socials and quarterly sector socials. Volunteer days are organised for the whole team yearly

  • Yes

  • Mace is a good employer who value their employees, they help people through qualifications such as university and becoming chartered


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Make sure to be outspoken in group interviews however also listen to others, showing good leadership to lead but also listen
