My job entails booking holidays for customers and giving advice and recommendations where needed and requested. Examples of this include travel recommendations based on brief, and advice on where someone can travel to with us. I also am tasked weekly on alternate days to find holiday deals for our digital board, this task is handed out fairly to each member of staff.
I have been able to develop my knowledge and skills in travel geography, which I can use in my job. I have learnt about how the company operates to keep customer data safe, and how to sell travel money safely. I have also learnt about the properties and resorts that my employer offer.
I thoroughly enjoy my work and my apprenticeship, my coworkers and I have a great dynamic which helps the atmosphere in store, and I really enjoy my job. I also enjoy the training the company offer, it's very informative and helps me a lot. The programme is very well organised, and it's very easy for me to complete my work and access the systems.
It's structured very well, I think our daily tasks are fairly handed out between all members of the team. The support I get from my apprenticeship coach is amazing, and they help me a lot when I'm working on my apprenticeship, for example things I can do to improve my learning.
The support I receive from my mentor is very useful. They provide me with very useful ideas on how to further my learning. My manager is very helpful when she can, however there are occasions when the store is too busy and unfortunately I cannot ask my manager for advice. In these situations, my employer has an intranet system for FAQs which helps me to answer any questions.
I think I could be provided with more time to get my work done, my manager will occasionally tell me I am unable to work away from customers on my allocated study days, when I haven't got any other work to do in store I will work on my apprenticeship, my deputy manager is fine with this but my manager will ask me to stop. There is a lot of confusion I think about the hours away from customers to work on my apprenticeship work I should get, and due to this unfortunately I do not always get this time.
My learning on my apprenticeship helps me in my day to day job, with providing important information about properties and services offered by my employer, I will often use things that I have learnt through training in my apprenticeship into practice in my job. I tend to use things I have learnt in my training while talking to and advising customers in store, and I can be more informed about different processes that we put into place.
I attended a professional networking event, this was with third party providers that we offer at my work, it was very informative and gave me a very important insight into the providers that we use, and also what we can offer to customers through these third party providers. It also gave me an insight into specific properties which I can recommend to customers. The team also get together for a meal outside of work on special occasions like birthdays.
Yes
It is a great place to work and there's a lovely atmosphere, I have a good relationship with my colleagues. The training is very thorough and useful and it does make it a lot easier for me when I'm learning everything about different destinations and properties available for customers.
I would advise that it is best to be prepared as much as possible for the interview in a way that is going to show them how useful you will be to the company. It's not about knowing a lot about the company etc, it's about showing you're passionate about travel and are able to sell holidays enthusiastically.
