I support with the Human Resources department, specifically within the Global Mobility and Immigration team. I assist with our migrant employees in terms of supporting there migration across Europe by initiating immigration services and helping them gain sponsorship in that country. I also support with the compliance for the business by ensuring we are following the UKVI regulations.
I have gained a lot of skills including understanding the structure and the way that the business functions on a day to day business- from finance to HR as well as the engineering aspect of the organisation. I am completing my business administration apprenticeship, so by gaining first hand experience with colleagues and employees it has supported me massively in gaining this qualification.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme, and Cummins has supported my massively in gaining experience in the relevant fields and also exploring areas i was previously unaware of. This has given me the opportunity to be involved in projects, and charity events. They are very supportive and inclusive of employees who are part of the LGBTQ community, and ensure that everyone of every characteristic is treated fairly. This is very apparent across the organisation and has made my apprenticeship very worthwhile.
My programme is coordinated exceptionally well, and my HR/manager ensure that i am progressing to the best of my ability. There are several opportunities for me as an apprentice and i am ensured with support from all areas, i am currently taking part in a mentoring programme which means i can get exposure in different areas of the business that i might have never experienced before.
My employer provides me with a lot of support and check to see if there are any issues i may be experiencing. They make me feel comfortable enough to share with my team and HR if i do feel as though i am not supported or if their are any issues which has arisen.
Whilst completing my qualifications i am provided with ongoing support to ensure i have enough time to manage my workload/ assignments. They always let me have input in what i would like to do in terms of qualifications and how they can support me in doing so. HR assist in being setting up meetings to over whether i have an issues that i would like to raise.
My Business Administration qualification helps improve my awareness of how businesses function and where i fit within my organisation. A lot of important laws and legislations are part of my qualification, this has allowed me to implement this into my day to day tasks as i know the importance of confidentiality etc.
Cummins supports employees in completing charitable events (EEEC events), this is within working hours and you are paid for giving back to the local community. The Cummins community is very inclusive and always makes you feel welcome and part of a great network. There professional networking events which are advertised and allow you to gain experience in different fields/ and meet other like minded people who may work in the same area of business as you.
Yes
I would recommend Cummins as it is a very supportive and modern organisation, this is important as it reflects all of the important values which are needed in todays culture and society. As an apprentice i have been supported throughout and always made to feel like a valuable asset to the business which is important in my development. I couldn't recommend a better business to work for, especially if you want to grow to the best of your ability, whilst being part of a business which genuinely strives to make the world a better place.
I would advise that you evaluate whether you match Cummins values and mission as this is the type of candidate that they would like to employee; these can be found on the Cummins website. By reviewing and researching on Cummins you will up your chances in being successful within the role and you are ensuring you understand what the business is striving to do, and how you can be part of this culture.
