The Business Admin role provides me with exposure to general admin, reception, non-inventory purchasing and understanding our Purchase order process, management expenses, travel, events, and HR/ Product compliance. Within my role I also get involved with communications which are distributed around the site to advertise events that are due to happen or have already taken place.
One of the skills I have developed is teamwork and collaboration. This is something I have only ever experienced within sport, therefore through this apprentice it has given me the experience of teamwork in an office and working environment, such as helping others, covering work, collaborating on projects. I have also developed my oral and written communication skills through being involved in comms here onsite and also through the apprentice presentation skills sessions that were set up to help us improve our presenting and confidence levels.
I have really enjoyed my experience at Siemens so far, since first stepping foot within the business, everyone has been extremely friendly and supportive. The working environment is very positive and everyone works as one team. The company culture is really good here too, one thing I massively like about the company is their strong focus on wellbeing for their employees. This experience is way above my expectations, I did not think I was going to gain exposure to so many different skills within the admin role and I work with such a great team.
My programme was very organised and structures, when joining Siemens Healthineers, we had an induction and training, some of which was down in person and some we had to complete through learn4u. At the bgininnng of our apprenticeship we had placement plans in which we would spent 1-2 weeks within a different department, this was to gain exposure to the different elements within siemens and help build our knowledge. From my experience my manager has been extremely supportive with my college work and I have also had this support from my team and from my college tutor.
I feel like I have received the right amount of support from my employer. My line manager has been there every step of the way to help build my knowledge and help me learn different elements of my job role. My line manger has also supported my college time and college projects in which some she got involved with and was extremely willing to do so.
I am a very independent worker when it comes to training and course work and felt like I received the right amount of time with my college tutor. One thing I would suggest which is in regards to the college programme is that I feel like it was be more beneficial to have the taught online sessions recapped or running towards the end of your apprentice to help prepare you for your end point assessment exam as I feel like there's a huge gap between learning this knowledge to then moving on and completing all your college projects to then having to go back and re-learn the taught sessions for the End point assessment.
I feel like the learning on my apprenticeship has helped me learn and gain more knowledge about my company through doing research for my projects that were set for me. One of my projects was called 'Me and my company' in which I had to learn about the company's, values, purpose, visions, policies etc.. all in which I had to do research internally. This really helped me understand the business more.
Yes, we hold wellbeing events, one of our most recent ones was walking the Norfolk coast. In the past we have held our challenges such as climbing Snowdon and doing the 3 peaks. We also hold a rounders event each summer where employees within the business we create teams and we will go against each other in rounders which is very fun.
Yes
I think its such a good opportunity to kick start your career, there is room to develop and grow if you find other interest within the company. Siemens is also a really nice working environment and like previously mentioned everyone is so friendly and supportive. I was completely unsure with what I wanted to do and applied for this apprentice because I wanted a new job and I did not think it would give me this much exposure to so many skills and it has started my career journey in this world.
The advice I would give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers is think about team work and you experience within teams. Have confidence in yourself and your capabilities and make sure you express these in assessment days and interviews. The assessment day will include you being involved in a team building activity and then going off to have an interview so make sure to show your participation in that activity.
