Customer service engineer Review

I have to go to hospitals in the UK using a work van within a 2hr radius. In the hospital I have to either install, maintain, repair, modify etc. medical equipment. These are machines such as X ray, CT, MRI, PETCT. I also have to provide high quality customer service to show the professionalism of Siemens and give a good reputation

I have learnt how to navigate around Hospitals and drive long distances to these hospitals, I have also gained a lot of engineering skills such as mechanical and electrical from going to Reading college. I have also gained a lot of skills being mentored by someone else on the job, they teach me how the job is done and I have the confidence to go into some jobs and I believe I can do them myself.

I enjoy going out into the field of work and seeing new people and different hospitals and areas as I am a person who wants hands on and likes to travel. I also enjoy the work as some days you finish early and some you finish late but I don’t mind as it balances out. Lastly, I enjoy working on these unique pieces of equipment as it’s so interesting how they work.

I think this apprenticeship is very organised as you learn from college at the same time you learn on the job. You also get a work van and fuel is paid for so you don’t have to worry about cost and enjoy working. Lastly, you get to go to Germany for experienced training on equipment which I can’t wait for.

I receive a lot of support from the employer. If I’m stuck with college or work, Siemens has an apprentice manager in who I can go to for help and she is there to help me. If I’m behind on college work or NVQ work, Siemens will let me have a day to complete it.

I do receive a lot of support from Stegta, however I feel like there can be miscommunication and confusion as sometimes I don’t know what work to complete for the next meeting. In total they do provide a lot of support on how to complete the NVQ in the proper manner

From the start of the apprenticeship I had no idea how medical equipment worked and now from working for Siemens I have much better knowledge and skills on how they work. I also have more engineering skills and knowledge from doing the college one day a week to enhance my skills

There is a few you can attend as for Christmas there is a sausage meal in London and they also hold a meal for the team in the south who can’t make the London meal. They also hold some social events such as bowling but overall needs a bit more.

You get a lot of benefits for working for Siemens such as a work van, fuel and lunch is paid for etc. so no worries about money. I also think it’s a job for life as people will always need medical equipment. Lastly, you get to travel and meet new people and different areas to widen your interest

I would say be confident and look professional. You need to sell yourself by showing yourself but in a positive way so they think they are employing someone who is willing to work hard and complete the apprenticeship to the best of their ability. Lastly, make it look like you really want the apprenticeship and how much it would benefit you and the company to have you in it
