My role has changed a lot over my 4 year period with the company. For the first year, i was full time at college. After that, i did placement rotations that lasted around 6-8 weeks and gave me knowledge and experience in lots of different departments. This was helpful in chosing my final placement as i had knowledge in lots of places.
I have learnt lots of knowledge within the company regarding my knowledge of an engine and how it works. I have also developed my education, earning a distinction in my Level 3 BTEC, and currently on track to achieve a distinction Level 4 HNC. On completion of my HNC, I am due to start my HND Level 5.
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme greatly. It has allowed me to develop as a person over the past 4 years and overcome my shyness towards new people. It has also developed my knowledge. I have also really enjoyed how no two days are the same when working, due to the varity of different departments that i work in.
Within the apprenticeship, there is a really good structure, we have a set timetable in which we follow to gain experience and exposure to lots of different departments. This is well organized and structured due to how there are never more than one apprentice is in the area at the time to ensure that they get full attention during their time in the department.
Within the apprenticeship, there is lots of support. I have had issues with my college work in the past, in which I have spoken to my company about and they have been understanding and have been able to guide me through how to deal with the issue professionally and quickly.

I feel like my qualification has helped me perform better in my role due to how it has expanded my knowledge in lots of different areas. For example, one unit that i found very helpful was business, as this allowed me to research and run projects within work that are related to six sigma projects which have helped me run my projects at work better, and therefore perform better in my role.
I currently do not get involved in extra curricular activities, but there are lots that are avaliable to be involved in. These include 5 a side football teams every wednesday, Women in Steam workshops that are ran every year for 8 weeks at a time and other things such as office based golf outside of work.
Yes
I believe that the apprenticeship is the best thing that has happened to me, and that it has helped me mature, develop and gain experience in the sector that I want to work in for the rest of my life. I don't think that there is a better start in life than through an apprenticeship.
When going through the application process and specifically the interviews, ensure that you know what Cummins do, and prepare for basic interviews questions, such as what are your strengths and weaknesses. Having prepared answers for these sorts of typical interview questions will allow you to come across better prepared and may give you a upper hand in being successful.
