  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Office duties - answering telephone calls, dealing with parents/visitors, abiding with GDPR regulations, daily registers for pupils, ordering dinners for pupils and staff, reading & responding to emails, updating website as needed, first aid, processing orders, deliveries, scanning documents to relevant departments, PA, stock taking, processing any money received.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • All new skills, not worked in a school office before - was a teaching assistant for 20 years, every day learning new skills and developing rest.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • When I started I found it interesting as everything was new - learning about my role in the organisation and how I fit in was interesting, had a few stumbling blocks, but had support of tutor and line manager to help me refocus.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It changes to best fit what I'm doing within my role - it's about me as a leaner rather than me changing my daily role to fit the course - example school census came up and it didn't match the next unit, but we changed so the topic

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Varies - recently changed our head, we have a temporary head in and they are not aware of what the course entails - new head starts in September. Line manager is supportive as she comes and covers when I'm on training courses, also I've had a break due to bereavement.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Tutor is always available via emails when I'm struggling, online assessor tolls helps to keep track of where I'm up to, can also check what activities I need to do.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I understand my role better and the training webinars I've recently been on have given me further guidance how to plan day to day. My next area is finance which I currently do not deal with so this will help me understand our finance department better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have an annual MAT day, where all the school within the Trust get together and we discuss what's going well and what's not going well and where the Trust is going. Outside work I meet up with friends and family

  • Yes

  • They offer courses to suit most job roles, their courses cover a wide variety within the job and it can be tailored around what is happening in your job.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to St Augustine's CofE Primary School?
  • My application was done by my Trust, with both myself and the head agreeing to the particulars of my course. Assessments where straight forward online, support was available if needed.
