I work in housekeeping with in Premier Inn. It involves all aspects of cleaning rooms and guest areas. We clean bedrooms and bathrooms, making sure everything is done to the highest standards. We hoover and dust corridors, stairways and public areas. So everywhere is ready for our guests arrivals. At the end of shifts we make sure everything is put away correctly and tidy ready for housekeepers arriving the next day.
During my time at premier inn I have been learning reception duties to be able to offer cover when any of our receptionists are off. I have also learned duties associated with head housekeeping, so I am able to assist reception on busier days. I have became quicker when cleaning rooms aswell.
I'm enjoying the programme, my trainer [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is great she's patient when I'm forgetful and explains things well. The course is easy to follow. I'm learning things about housekeeping and legislation that I wouldn't of thought about finding out by myself and I'm learning about other areas of hospitality aswell.
When logging onto my lifetime portal everything is sectioned and easy to find. These sections are then broke down into smaller parts to make learning easier to absorb and is really easy to go back to if theirs anything that you're unsure of so you can go over it again.
I receive some support from my employer, if there is anything that I do need help with they are always willing to help and give advice. They are always happy to hear of any achievements I have achieved during my apprenticeship and often ask how I am getting on with my work.
My trainer is really great. If I ever need any help I can call or ring her. After our sessions she will send a email going over what we have completed that day and how she thinks I've done. She will also gives detailed instructions o what I need to be doing for our next session.
I feel that the things that I'm learning during my apprenticeship are really helping in my role as a housekeeper. I know about coshh and how the correct storing of chemicals is important, I know how to lift correctly to avoid injury and about different legislation that apply to me in my work place.
We don't have any extra-curricular activities at our work place that I know of. From time to time whitbread will hold recruitment days where we can discover areas of whitbread that we could progress to if that is something that we are interested in. As a company we are encouraged to be Interested in different roles.

Whitbread is a really good company to work for. The staff at my work place with in the hotel and reception are all really friendly. You get recognised for achievements and rewarded for them and the discounts we get over all whitbread companies is really good, they definitely are winning statement!
Always be yourself, the company has people from all walks of life, disability, gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation will not be a problem when applying to whitbread. Don't be afraid to speak up if you have any ideas that you think will benefit the company. Don't think that if you take a certain position that that will be where you will have to stay as progression within the company is encouraged.
