Being part of the accounts payable team, my role involved gaining knowledge of the full end to end invoice lifecycle and also getting involved in active projects within the team. Additionally, there was a component of resolving queries, both internal and external, to which I had extensive training and hands-on learning.
Yes, I developed several skills, both soft skills and finance/accounting knowledge. There was expected to be both a level of being able to work as a team and following direction, but also of independent thinking and working without supervision. I also had some training on communication, time management, conflict resolution, among others
I did enjoy the programme, as I was exposed to a number of different scenarios, and contributed to a variety of activities. There were also development days led by Kaplan, which helped develop my soft skills. Lastly, I also met a number of people who I consider now to be my friends.
It was sufficiently structured and organised, while leaving room to adapt as needed. There were more than enough activities to count towards my off the job learning, and there was a lot of support from management too. It was also very clear what I was required to do. All in all, a very positive experience.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, especially by management. I could always approach my line manager if I required support or assistance, and felt like studying and my apprenticeship was a priority. I felt the same across the company, with frequent catch ups on my progress, or even just an inclusion on weekly/monthly comms of exam passes.
I also received a lot of support from Kaplan. If anything, we could almost have too much support available. There are plenty of learning materials, exam practice and helpful contacts if needed. Also every unit followed a similar structure, which helped organising and preparing for exams. All in all a good experience
It does help, both in acquiring finance knowledge, and training or coaching in soft skills. It all impacted my job role, being able to perform it better and more efficient. Also, the knowledge and training received during the level 3 apprenticeship gave me the bases needed to build on towards level 4 and hopefully level 7.
Yes, there are plenty of activities in my company. We have a staff party twice a year, and multiple smaller events across the calendar. We also have company sponsored happenings organised by staff, where we go for a social experience with other interested people from other teams or floors. For instance, doing sporty, cultural or dining activities
Yes
It's a great company to work for, where people are very kind and helpful in general, and we all strive together to achieve a common goal: be a sustainable, effective and socially-conscious company. There is always room for improvement in such a big company too, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in projects and other exciting works if needed
I would advise doing a deep research on the company and job role to start with, and tailoring your CV to show where you have the soft skills or knowledge to perform your role. There are always entry level positions becoming available all the time, so previous experience might not even be required, if you can show the interviewers you would fit as person in the team
