My role is an apprentice technician. My role on a day to day basis is to help other techs with jobs and carry out jobs of my own wether it be a service, defects, diagnosis or breakdowns. Other things are keeping a tidy workshop and yard making sure it's safe and a relatively clean environment
I have improved many skills from basic hands on experience to full in depth diagnosis work with methodical ways and techniques to ensure a first time fix. I have also developed skills on how to keep myself, drivers and vehicles safe when attending roadside breakdowns/ recovery jobs especially at night time
I enjoyed my programme very well from all the experience gained and learning to repair vehicles to a high standard.
The organisation of the hands on side of work is good, the flow of jobs and variety of jobs is smooth. The theory side at college isn't so well, the organisation to be at college is good but when actually attending college there could be some improvements made with equipment and the structure
I receive lots of support from my employer wether it be work related in the workshop, theory at college or home issues/ troubles. There is many ways of finding support from colleagues to the boss to HR, there is lots
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider, they help with everything about college, work and most things in between
I feel the training provider doesn't massively support my role as a tech because all of my work is hands on and I personally don't learn well from reading and looking at paperwork. If there was a little bit more hands on from the training provider
There is very little, if at all any extra curricular activities at work
Yes
It's a good company to work with, most people within the company are helpful and welcoming. The experience is really good and educational. The job is fun and the variety of work is good, I enjoy my job and I believe others will enjoy the job as well as I do
Make sure you complete the skillnet forms relatively quickly otherwise you may not be interviewed or contacted before the start date of the apprenticeship
