My role is looking after survey equipment and delivery. Inspect returned equipment from hire. Ready equipment for hire, software and hardware. Technical support for equipment over the phone and in person site visits Delivery and collection of equipment to multiple sites, internal and external, and make sure the client is happy with it.
Developed my software based skills for fault finding and repair to allow faster resolutions for sites. Learnt how to do over the phone technical support in a rapid and efficient way. Had in depth training on equipment to improve my electrical and calibration skills for checking and proving conformity of equipment.
I enjoy what I do a lot, the role is being tailored to what I enjoy. Flexible working, good team in my department and in the wider company as a whole, plus plenty of support with external suppliers due to the relationships built between the department and the external companies.
The internal structure of the program is great. I know where I am and what I am doing, plus get the training I need and the time I need to familiarise with the equipment. If I am unsure I know who to contact to clarify anything if I need it clarifying
I have the full backing of my team and the wider department in any issues I have, be it internal, with sites or with an external company. Any issues and I know the chain to use to get support on the matter and any incidents have been dealt with in the correct way.
My qualification hasn't started yet but the training provider has been uncooperative at times, poor at informing of what is going on to me and the rest of the department. This may improve but I don't hold out much hope of this happening, but am open to it
The qualification will give me the confidence to delve deeper into the equipment we have and have to take care of. If I have more confidence to repair what we have we can get the equipment turned around quicker and more efficiently, making my role easier and more enjoyable in the process.
Balfour Beatty have a wide range of activities and teams available. I do not personally take part in any but I have seen the various invites to various activities and sporting events if I wished to take part in them and my colleagues are open to inviting to activities if they were involved.
Yes
The company has supported me in my time here, and in this department it is a great atmosphere and makes it a great place to work, which is what I want out of employment. I am learning a great amount of things and I really enjoy my role with the company.
Research a little before interviewing, relax in the interview and ask about the role and department you're going in to. The applications are in stages and can take a while between stages so keep checking back to see if it has been advanced and if unsure, just ask the recruitment team
