  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work is very interesting and there is always something to learn. My colleagues are helpful.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My original team didn't have the resources to help me learn. I was moved to another team. This process should of been considered initially. In my second team, work was slow for an apprentice despite how much was available. Under my new manager, I was able to perform well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Besides my line manager, you have to actively ask for support. While that is good for communication skills, for a new apprentice, that can be unnerving. But most of the time, the follow ups are from your colleagues which is very nice.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from QA. Their lessons were very good and the material they provide is very helpful. They constantly give feedback on what you can do to better your work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I find that the knowledge and insight learnt from my qualifications are more impactful on my role than the technical skills. This would be considering ways to visualise data or the data structure and architect of my organisation is.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many groups where you can join to do things. I am unsure if there are sports related extra-curricular but there are some events where you can do such thing. For example marathons for charity. I however, do not partake in these as of writing this.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There are many parts to NatWest such as Coutts, RBS and NatWest. They are connected which can allow you to find any role you like. For my role, I learnt a lot of skills and knowledge that is applicable elsewhere. Very good to start here to learn and develop.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • To be straight forward and constantly willing to learn. Do not feel down as many things will not go your way. You are an apprentice and your goal is to learn.
