  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a test analyst. To ensure systems work efficiently, we carry out user scenarios. That is, mimicking how somebody would use the system, to ensure it works correctly. Where errors are found, we need to work closely with developers to produce a fix.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Definitely - our initial training involves JAVA primarily, but it also touched upon SQL and HTML. As a tester though, I have also developed skills in UNIX. Working with so many experienced colleagues is fantastic when it comes to increasing your knowledge and skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It's challenging and rewarding. I really do enjoy it; it's a fantastic opportunity. To gain on-the-job skills at such an applauded company with the comfort that you'll be earning a degree is just phenomenal. I've worked with and met some brilliant already. I really do recommend it to those considering going to university who have a genuine interest in I.T.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • Apprentices are very common at Capgemini now. You play a real role in projects. You are making definite contributions to your teams.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's in its infancy, thus a lot of it is changing over time. This has had some impact on my course; for example, I have been unable to complete some of my 'work-based assessments' while I wait for a change to be implemented into the course. But those who manage the course are extremely enthusiastic and they will do so much for you. Definite improvement is showing.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Tutors from our training provider were very nice people, all were very experienced in their respective area. But you need to stay on top of all of your topics during training.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • It will depend on your team; but colleagues I have worked with thus far have been extremely helpful. They are so patient - they answer all of your questions and help you when you it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It's a fantastic salary considering you're also being sponsored for a degree. When you look at all of the news stories about "slave labour" apprenticeships, it gives you a sense of relief to be working at Capgemini. Wages are more than enough for me at this stage in my life. I really can't complain.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • It's I.T. - it's everywhere. The company is also active at organising a number of events outside of work to contribute to.

    8/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Fantastic prospects, local, a degree, experience and excellent support.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be enthusiastic.
