  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day generally is assisting with maintaining business operations to ensure successful project delivery. Liaising with different parties within my organisation to make sure everything is where it needs to be. Assisting with project planning and delivery

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, definitely improved my industry knowledge and how to conduct myself professionally. I understand what factors go into successfully running a project, such as motivating the team, organisation, time management, risk and quality management, and in depth planning processes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme now I am further into my development. I have been put on a large project where I have more responsibilities and opportunities to develop and progress.

    9/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Fairly hard to comment due to starting during Covid. However, structure wasn't an issue college wise, but the apprenticeship development process internally wasn't too clear.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Can't fault my team in the slightest. Always all members of the team offering support. Even during Covid I still felt supported even though times were challenging. I have had guidance to "call any time" which is very nice.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My line manager was always very helpful with college commitments. I also was tasked to speak to multiple areas of the business for my coursework, which all parties assisted with without hesitation.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A lot. At first I didn't think it would be too beneficial in a practical project, however I was very wrong. A lot of points from my course come up day to day, and it's very beneficial having the understanding there.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not too many. A lot of the time has been through Covid though, so all interactions have been minimal. Saying this, I have been out for drinks quite a few times after work which has been nice.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Balfour Beatty to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Great company to get involved in working in all sectors, will sponsor development and support you in your decided route. Encourage movement in the business.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
  • Understand your role, and understand what BB does as a company. Obviously be yourself, and if it is something you are passionate about, I don't think you will have any issues.
