  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a first year retail degree apprentice currently based in store. On a day-to-day basis I get involved with store operations whilst having my own section which I manage and monitor the KPI's whilst learning how the store operates and how each department interlinks.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is relatively structured. There is flexibility within the programme in order to experience different aspects of the business also but I think the structure should be communicated more with stores so managers have more of an incline of what the degree apprentices are doing in store.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer. I have had the opportunity to do a lot of networking and have made many mentors who I know I can talk to. The company also provides you with a mentor with whom you can chat with but you tend to build your own alongside this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a lot of support from our training providers. There is always someone willing to listen and support us with anything we need. Lecturers often put in extra sessions which we can attend in order to ask any questions we have about our assignments and they are always fast to reply to our emails.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that our qualification helps us to perform better in our role in some aspects. Dependent on which sector of the business you work in, depends which block week is most interesting and relevant. Many of the block week subjects are useful and can be implemented within our work but others are hard to reflect into our work.
