The roles you have on a day to day basis depends on what engagement you are in. But sometimes it can include writing up work papers for different companies or papers we call disclosures. There are certain things that you do have to make sure you do each day like check your emails and your teams chat, check your planner and charge your time
I have learnt alot about accounting and audit in general you learn about that on a daily basis. But like nearly all jobs you are always developing the skills you already have. A key mention about this is that during my course you even have to do mini essays about you developing 12 key skills.
Im currently not enjoying the job at all, i find it boring and very inconsistent in terms of behaviour of different management. Its not so much the companys fault or more just clearly the fact that this isnt or me. However i love what im learning and trust me there is a big difference. School teaches you about accountancy and work is you doing audit.
I think my programme is well organised. At the beginning of the programme things were a bit rocky but i assume that others are like that since they have a lot of emails coming through to have to get through. but even after the start of the programme to now its not unorganised or unstructered
So in my programme we have a Performance Manager and a Performance Leader. These two are their for you to email or contact if you need any support on anything. You also have your Line Manager/Engagement Manager who should be helping and training you during any engagement you are on with them. I dont think its too good. Not all engagement managers understand at times that you are new they dont train you and they just tell you what to do expecting you to know what to do. You are told to go to your PM if that happens but you can also be paired with a Performance Manager that may not be there for you since they can not be to helpful whether
When it comes to training assessments linked to the company i do not rate highly only because the assessments are not marked and you have to do it until you pass a certain mark. This means you never know what you have done wrong and thereforemay never be able to pass before the deadline. If you don't pass before the deadline you get in trouble. But when it comes to training for qualifications the university we are linked to is good and they are there when you need help and have protocols in place for when you do need help.
Right now i havent needed to use my qualification during my work, that might be why i find work boring. Because of that im going to say that my qualification doesn't help me to perform better during my role. I also wouldnt say its because of my taining provider its just because of the type of work i have been given
My work place has a lot of extra curricular activities to get involved in we also have alot of networking events. My work place has a lot of those and are very good at this. They have clubs for religion and for sports, you are free to join them and you are also free to join your own.
Yes
The reason why i would still recommend KPMG to a friend is because they are one of the big four and i don't believe the others would be that much better. Also it is still a great way to get your qualification and make your CV look nice while earning money.
Dont let any of your new older colleagues or higher ups slow you down from making progress, chase people up when you need to and dont be worried about tone
