  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Cost estimating, cost planning, measurement using CostX, completing valuations and producing payment certificates, producing cost reports and checking variations/ RFI's, chairing progress meetings and producing minutes and agendas.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt all new skills in this role as I came straight from college having no experience in the construction industry. I have not only learnt job specific skills but also developed my existing personable skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my programme to a great extent, learning a lot all the way along and meeting lots of individuals to learn from. However, working from home due to Covid-19 had slightly knocked my confidence for a year or so.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was fairly structured, as I was one of the earliest apprentices it was still partially a case of adapting the programme as we went on.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received a lot of support from my employer during the course of my apprenticeship, from other apprentices, my line manager and many others in the company from all levels. People have taken their time to support with anything I am ever unsure on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support with working towards my qualifications, they ask regularly if I need any assistance with anything and if I need anything reading over or checking, they ensure I receive my study day every week.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As the course goes on, the qualification relates a lot more to my role at work and assists in my performance improving.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are additional activities, I am on the social committee organising social events such as Christmas do's, I have also been involved in the The Apprenticeship Platform (TAP) group and the Women in Arcadis programme, both great for social events and networking events.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have loved working for Arcadis thus far and would recommend it to a friend as there is a great work ethic there, enjoyed the apprenticeship and met lots of people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
  • To be as confident as possible and not be afraid to ask any questions or for assistance as everyone will want to help others out.
