I have improved and developed my communication skills as I have learnt how to write professional emails and speak professionally over the phone in a formal manner. My teamwork skills have massively improved in a workplace environment as I have to collaborate with the rest of the finance team to provide solutions and asnwers.
I enjoy the apprenticeship as aswell as learning I am also developing skills needed for the workplace and I am treated like an integral part of the team. I also enjoy study leave which is 1/2 a day a week as The Growth Company provide good teaching and make the units within AAT level 3 easier to understand.
It was a bit messy at the start as I started later than I should of done and had to do independent learning however when I joined the main group of students after Christmas this became much more organized and a timetable started to develop for all my exam dates.
I receive decent support from my employer however this could be better. There has been a few changes in personnel so has resulted in managers being switched in and out however this has started to get more stable with a new manager coming in and attending one of my progress reviews on the 10th June.
I receive great support from The Growth Company in terms of progressing towards my qualifications. Within my qualification we go from unit to unit completing an exam after learning all the chapters. If you need extra support an email can always be dropped to the tutor who will respond to it or even offer u a live chat over zoom so you understand a segment fully before moving on.
We learn about things within our qualification which relate to things that happen in our work and it gives you that underlying knowledge you need of how the accounting system works and how a business is run. I have recently learnt how to do a bank rec within Sudlows and my knowledge of double entry bookkeeping has really helped me understand and grasp this.
We host a summer bbq every year and end an hour earlier, we have had chippy dinner with the whole Sudlows team and we as the finance team order breakfast every Friday to lift team spirits. We also play in a work 6 a side every few weeks against each other.
Yes
I would recommend Sudlows to a friend as they treat their employees very well offering good pay for apprenticeships and a good development scheme to work up to higher positions within the business. They are a reputable business and work with good training providers to offer you the best apprenticeship experience.
You will develop tons of skills at Sudlows and the whole team is friendly. Make sure you get your head stuck into your learning aswell as your work and try to link both of them together to develop a better understanding how a business environment works and how the construction industry works.
