My role involves liaising with the client in order to agree accounts for works we have carried out. I often have to produce applications for payments as well as assessing subcontractor's applications for payments. I process payments on a daily basis.
My confidence has improved greatly since I began this apprenticeship along with my interpersonal skills as a result of me consistently stepping outside of my comfort zone. I have gained lots of knowledge around my own role and the other roles my colleagues carry out in order to ensure business runs smoothly.
I really enjoy my programme, In particular my university programme which I find very interesting and I've been able to network and make new friends along the way. As well as this, the core skills development programme provided an additional opportunity to network and make friends while talking part in a number of fun activities.
I feel my programme has been very well structured. The core skills development programme helps ease you into your role and the work environment. This was essentially my first official job straight from college so it was extremely useful to develop core skills at the beginning of my programme.
I believe Tarmac has been extremely supportive throughout my apprenticeship. By providing a core skills development programme for graduates and apprentices, Tarmac has helped increased my confidence and helped me develop the skills and behaviours to thrive in my role.
UWE provides a wide range of resources which support you on your apprenticeship. It is extremely useful being assigned a tutor which can help you through your modules and guide you when you are stuck. As well as this, each module provides an extensive resource bank of learning materials in order to help you develop your knowledge and achieve the best results.
A lot of the modules I am undertaking from my training provider directly relate to the tasks I am carrying out in my day-to-day role therefore they are helping my gain a better understanding and thus carry out tasks more efficiently and to a better standard. As well as this, university has helped develop my confidence through group tasks such as presentations which I have then taken into my role.
Tarmac provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities, from organising sports events to providing training courses to help develop skills that will be useful in your role as well as giving you the opportunity to network.
Yes
Tarmac is a brilliant place to work with lots of support and development opportunities.
A piece of advice I would give to others applying to Tarmac would be to research the wide range of roles available as we provide a broad range of exciting job opportunities across a variety of services.
