My role is in a team which handles one account i.e. one client. At the moment I work side by side with my manager providing support to our client by managing their risks and guaranteeing they are under cover. My day to day tasks involver talking to underwriters, reporting back to the client and bits of admin.
I have learnt many skills whilst being on the apprenticeship scheme including people skills i.e. how to interchange the type of language used depending on who I am speaking/writing to and organisational skills i.e. how to manage my time and set aside enough time to study towards my qualifications.
I am sincerely loving my programme, both the team and the department I work for are very supportive and genuinely care about me learning and having exposure to all the interesting parts of the business. The job itself is also very interesting and I think its an amazing industry to be part of.
In my opinion the programme is very well structured the only part I don't agree with is the timings, I think the apprenticeship could be done in a shorter period of time but I understand that the length of the apprenticeship is flexible to every person individually and doesn't have to be 3 years strictly.
My employer is very supportive, although my direct team, line manager and GB department leaders are much more supportive than the actual central apprenticeship team which I don't really hear from. However I don't feel like this interferes with my day to day job or in my gaining my qualifications.
The actual tutor who teaches the workshops is very supportive, she always offers extra time or one to one calls to go over things a second time. The actual company I think isn't organised very well, more than once they have asked multiple times for the same thing which makes me think that they are managing too many apprentices at one time.
I feel like the qualification helps in the sense that it informs me about the industry and how it works, and also it defines and helps me understand a lot of concepts which are unique to the insurance industry, however my line of business is quite specific and it isn't really covered in the books
Their are lots of social networking events, being based in the city i.e. in the centre of the insurance market their is always something going on. Also the department sends out multiple events to sign up to that they think could be interesting or good to network for example seminars or market events.

I would recommend Willis Towers Watson to a friend because the company's culture is really good, it opens doors to many interesting opportunities and experiences that other smaller companies may not be able to offer and they genuinely care about the wellbeing of every individual personally. And having an office in the very centre of the london insurance market is definitely a plus.
My advice would be to be yourself whilst applying and to be motivated. The company will push you to work hard and will expect a lot from you at very early stages of your career but all of this is definitely worth it in exchange for all the knowledge you will gain and the experiences you will get to have.
