  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently support project managers on several different projects, by documenting risks and issues, creating and implementing a change control process, creating monthly programme board reports, attending and minuting meetings, action tracking, and liaising with clients and colleagues to ensure all of the above are kept updated and accurate at all times.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The new skills that I have learnt would be understanding the structure of professional meetings and becoming able to confidently chair workshops with our clients. I have also learnt about, and how to use different software which support the projects that I am working on. My existing time management skills have been developed and I have learnt that self organisation is essential in this role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The studying element is very structured, and easy to follow and understand. Initially there wasn't much work for me to get involved in, but as time has passed, I've picked up lots of work and I'm very involved with several projects. The support from my line manager and mentor is very good.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular meetings with a representative from my training provider and there is always opportunity for me to raise any concerns and ask any questions I may have. There is also a lot of support available for any issues I may be facing, whether this is workload related, mental health and wellbeing, safety ad security and also financial.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the moment, the links between my qualification and work have been limited, however I am still at an early stage in my qualification and I can clearly see how overtime the links will become more apparent and the qualification will support my work load in a more direct way.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are so many extra-curricular activities to be involved in. Our office holds regular social events for example, a meal and drinks, kayaking, games night and pizza, escape room, bowling and many others too. There have also been charity activities and events, such as a beach clean and a walking and camping event.

  • 9b. Why?
  • The opportunities are endless, my colleagues are so friendly and supportive and the benefits are incredible. Arcadis really ensure that work-life balance is good and wellbeing is very important. Working from home, and the office, allows for a better work life balance and reduces cost and time required for commuting.
