I design kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. This involves me having a brief with customers and helping them design and pick the products for their project and I help them follow up with suggestions and reviews of their project to make sure the products recommended will be fit for purpose. I also inform customers about the product features and help them make a well informed decision.
Not really, I have followed up on the apprenticeship with a level 3 customer services to learn new skills and develop my existing skills. So far it has been an improvement but completing my level 2 was an experience and a lesson on the process of the apprenticeship which has prepared me for my level 3.
It gives me something to do, it is not very challenging the majority of the programme was just information that I had to tick off my "know" list and less to do with new and improved skill that I could acquire. But it had to be completed to be able to progress to my level 3.
When completing my level 2 it wasn't very well planned out and also having my tutor change frequently and having different information given to me about how I should be doing my apprenticeship didn't make it easy for me to have a layout planed But all of this has been improved for my level 3.
During this original level 2 apprenticeship I received very little help and support most of my work was done in my own time un-paid and I had to do all the research for it on my own without any help and even more I was sometimes questioned when trying to complete some research for my apprenticeship which made me feel like not wanting to do it.
I can't fault the support from my tutor, they were very supporting and they were always swift with email replies and they were also helpful when doing face to face appointments but the downfall of the support was the fact that they were changing very frequently and every change would set me back in my work.
The skills that the apprenticeship would have provided were skills that I already possessed and there for they didn't improve or help me performer better at my role, but due to the apprenticeship I had to research policies and information about my business which I didn't know before which is a plus.
Not to my knowledge and I am not sure how am I suppose to write 50 words considering the answer is no but there were some times when we would have a meal out before a large event such as Peak or maybe our social network called Yammer but I am not sure if these two examples qualify for this question.
No
Because the difference between what I get told during an interview and what I actually have to do during my shift is very different also the lack of communication between management and staff is lacking which makes my job difficult. Transparency between the company and the staff could improve and would make B&Q a better place to work for.
Ask as many questions as possible during the interview to make sure you are aware of what you are getting into. Ask questions about the department and what the department requires and have a good think before accepting the offer to be hired because a lot of effort goes into training someone just for them to leave 1 week later due to the position not being for them or to their liking.
