I am working on a client site and work within the test capability. I system test the functionality of different payment schemes and systems including stats reports, risk assessment and letter generation.
I had little software skills when I began the apprenticeship but these have developed massively in the time I have been here, learning two languages (Java and SQL) and having the ability to implement them on a daily basis in a working environment ensure continuous development
Very much, from the start we was put into a friendly environment with others in the same situation, we had small groups to learn within with experienced tutors giving us expert knowledge. We were integrated into the business throughout training meaning the jump was minimal and we were comfortable on leaving training, into an unknown life of work on a client site. The support from the course has been continuous with multiple groups calls a month giving info/Q+As/updates on what is happening now and the future of our apprenticeship
Very much so, surprisingly actually. We (apprentices) are seen as the future of the business and this is made evident with the responsibilities and opportunities given to us. We are given freedom to work and learn our way around the workplace as any other employee would be - from day one of being introduced into the business. This highlighted to me how we were not seen as 'apprentices' but a member of the team.
Very well organised, from the very beginning we were told exactly what our apprenticeship entailed - and where it could lead. Even with changes and improvements to the course we are kept informed and our opinions are taken into account - not just for our own course but for future apprentices. The organisation of the programme has been a major factor into our seamless integration into the business
Since leaving training and entering the business I have had constant support from my manager and other Cap employees within my team. I feel as my situation is different t others as I am on a client site so therefore as a resource I am committed to the work assigned to me - giving me on the job learning rather than apprenticeship assigned work. With this in mind I am free to take time to work on my apprenticeship work that is assigned by my QA reviewer with whom I meet monthly and is contactable at any time.
As I work on a client site my 'employer' is both Capgemini and who we are doing the work for. The support has been brilliant from both parties, if there is any questions or issues it will get cleared up immediately and if I find I am struggling with the work I can seek help from various directions including my line manager, project manager, programme manager and fellow colleagues - all of which I am on good speaking terms with giving confidence in my worth and support network around me
Really well, as an apprentice I would never expect to be earning this much money. I have moved into the City and can easily afford to live from home - which was a big surprise to me. The opportunity for promotions within the apprenticeship is also a bonus, as wage and rank will reflect the work put into my work.
I don't understand this question - opportunities to do what?
Yes
The opportunity to join a worldwide company who will give you the best training available followed by a permanent, well paid career (not a word used often with young people starting their first job) in which your valued and get to meet many friendly, experienced professionals who want to help you develop and be successful in work
Do it! Work hard in training, keep that attitude in the workplace and there's no limit to where you can go.
