I am an apprentice Quantity Surveyor in the midlands property team. On a day to day basis the majority of my time is spent managing BMHT housing schemes across Birmingham under an employers agent role.
I have developed my ability to use my initiative as a project progresses and circumstances change. My confidence in my own work and to be able to critique others has also improved as my knowledge of building and construction has increased.
I enjoy all aspects of my programme with only minor issues relating to the university I attend.
The company and working aspects of the programme is well structured and I have a clear path set out before me on what I want to achieve and when I will do so however there is a slight disconnect between this and the studying at university.
I receive an outstanding amount of support from my employer on a constant basis.
I am given as much support as I require for my qualifications however much of what is provided is not applicable to my actual work at my company.
I would say certain aspects including Quantity surveying specific modules definitely support me in my day to day work however the more generic modules fall short as it's not always applicable to what I do.
There are plenty of social activities and networking events some of which I have hosted and attended myself.
